We Are flat 70

flat 70 is a non-profit arts family based in Elephant & Castle. Located in the same regeneration that demolished our childhood home, our function-fluid space has been reclaimed for artists, cultural workers and local communities of colour.

We are a home for artist development, artist care, cultural celebration and cultural exchange. As a registered Community Interest Company (no.: 12530111) our social enterprise carries out these activities for the benefit of artists, designers & cultural workers of African & Caribbean heritage and other traditionally marginalised groups particularly those who identify as queer, trans or differently abled.

Our first year focuses on community engagement designed to facilitate artistic, therapeutic & redistributive exchange within SE17. Our space offers arts professionals, students and amateurs a Zone 1 gallery to engage with and showcase work. All work on display in our physical and online store is available to purchase. This directly supports artists and artisans of colour while making their work accessible to the communities that inspire it.

flat 70 also functions as a photography studio for hire at competitive rates. Our central London location and professional service makes us an ideal space to shoot portraits, tests, editorial, product and fine art photography.

We welcome everyone and are available to respond to requests and suggestions on how visitors can get the most from their local community arts space. If you’d like to get involved please get in touch via our instagram @_flat70 or via email info@flat70.co.uk.
